Gordon Meggison

Gordon Meggison's murals are the panoramic result of influences while traveling in the Far East, Europe, and in the US. He finds himself enlightened by oriental simplicity of line and drawn to european classic arrangements. These two philosophical ideals coupled with their shared love of the garden as an expression of man's harmonious and ideal relationship with nature, are the transcendent principles Gordon brings to his work. He believes his work constantly seeks "paradise lost". He produces large canvases that strike a balance between the grace and ethic of the past, and the simple spirit of the present.

Gordon was born in Tampa, Florida in 1954. After living and attending school in Japan from 1963-1969, and living three years in Maine, Gordon returned to Florida in 1972. Gordon has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States,

and attributes his wide range of artistic interests to the many influences there.

Gordon Meggison has had many solo exhibitions in the US and one in Nantes France. He has done murals throughout the United States for General Mills Olive Garden restaurants. He placed a large mural in Indiana Dunes State Park, Indiana, featuring detailed renderings of 60 animals set in their habitat in the park ecosystem. He has placed canvases as far afield as Japan and the Philippines.

He has been featured in radio, television, magazine, and newspaper articles including Holland, and France. He has also worked with dozens of interior designers and architects on show houses, homes and restaurants, and now applies original murals on canvas, and printed versions of his designs on walls all over the world.
